As always, the health and well-being of our community is our number one priority. While distancing may be a part of our new normal, increasing our physical and mental health through exercise has never been more important.
That’s why we are taking every precaution in order to provide a safe club experience at Gold’s Gym East Northport – ensuring our members and team members can continue to exercise and practice a healthy lifestyle together. We’re coming back bigger and stronger than ever, and when you’re ready, we’ll be here for you!
In accordance with the CDC, state and local government guidelines, we have provided an overview of the comprehensive reopening strategy that builds upon our existing high-standards of health and cleanliness – “The Gold Standard”.
This includes extensive sanitizing and disinfecting protocols, along with social distancing practices throughout the club. We also need the help of our members to guarantee a safe environment by respecting each others space and following our new “Health & Safety Code of Conduct”. We thank everyone for being a part of the Gold’s Gym family.
CLEANING & DISINFECTING
We’ve enhanced our sanitation and disinfecting protocols to achieve a new level of cleanliness for our members and team members. This includes continuous scheduled cleaning and sanitizing of the equipment and high-touch surfaces throughout the club, enhancing our cleaning products to meet EPA regulations, and deep cleaning. We have also made a substantial investment by ordering a proven air and surface sanitizing system called, AirPHX.
AirPHX
- This system uses a plasma generator to produce oxidizing molecules called Reactive Oxygen Species “ROS” which can be found in natural environments and are used to effectively kill germs, viruses and bacteria (including droplets) on contact in the air and on surfaces.
- Works with our HVAC system and ceiling fans to continuously move this treated air throughout the club.
- AirPHX has undergone vigorous lab testing and uses a patented technology which has been found to reduce over 95% of harmful pathogens in the air and surface.

Zone Cleaning
- Each area throughout the club will be designated into “Zones” including all workout spaces, class rooms and high-traffic areas.
- Additional team members have been hired to help facilitate continuous sanitizing and disinfecting of the equipment throughout the day.
Deep Cleans
- Adjusted club hours and daily 1-hour intermission to allow for an overnight and mid-day deep clean of the facility using hospital-grade, EPA registered disinfectants.
- Use of an Electrostatic sprayer to efficiently attack microbes and provide 3x more coverage. Will be used to disinfect machines, free-weights, locker rooms and group fitness equipment.
Cleaning Products
- Hand sanitizer (70% alcohol), disinfectant wipes and sprays readily available around the entire club.
- All products are hospital grade, EPA registered disinfectants designated effective against COVID-19:

“The Code”
- Masks must be worn at all times while inside the facility (Bandannas, buffs, and gaiters are not acceptable).
- Wipe down all equipment before and after each use.
- Abide by the social distancing rule by keeping 6-foot distance between other Members and Team Members.
- Follow all directional signs throughout the club.
- Not use equipment or amenities that are temporarily closed or not in use.
- Keep workouts to no more than 90-minutes per day.
- Refrain from hand-shakes and other forms of physical contact.
- Practice good hygiene by washing hands, avoiding contact with your face, and covering coughs and sneezes.
- Stay home if feeling sick or have a family member sick at home.
As we navigate through the reopening of the club, there will be some new things to expect during each phase of our reopening strategy. Amenities and programming availability will vary and be in accordance with state and local government guidelines. We will send out updates as changes occur. We appreciate your help and understanding as we work through this time together.
Club Guidelines
*Masks must be worn at all times while inside the facility (Bandannas, buffs, and gaiters are not acceptable).
*33% occupancy level (124 members). Members required to CHECK OUT prior to exiting the facility. No advanced reservations required.
*Temperature checks will be taken for every member entering the club.
*Required in state reopening guidelines.
Temporary Club Hours
Mon – Fri | 5 am – 9 pm
Sat – Sun | 8 am – 6 pm
A daily intermission will occur from 1 pm – 2 pm to ensure a reset of all cleaning supplies and deep clean of the club.
Team Member Safety
Lobby & Smoothie Bar
- To ensure quick access, all members must now check-in AND check-out using a Key-Tag or barcode on their Gold’s Gym Member App.
- Protective shields will be added at the Front Desk to provide safety between members and team members.
- Tanning will not be available during our initial phase of reopening.
Group Fitness Classes resume Wednesday, September 9th.
- As per NYS Guidelines, appropriate face masks are required during all indoor group classes.
- Reduced class occupancy:
- Group Exercise: 15 Members
- Spinning: 10 Members
- Outdoor Classes: 25 Members
- Bring your own workout mat for each class. Dumbbells are required for appropriate outdoor classes.

- Stretching Room will be closed during our initial phase of reopening.
- Water fountains will not be in use during our initial phase of reopening.
Members are required to wipe down their equipment before and after each use.
- The Sauna will be closed during our initial phase of reopening.
- Only a portion of the lockers and showers will be available to adhere to proper social distancing.

Fitness Floor
Various areas of the gym have been adjusted to allow for 6 feet of spacing. This includes repositioning of our strength equipment along with blocking off every other cardiovascular machine to allow for a comfortable workout experience.
Personal Training
Members and Trainers are expected to remain 6 feet apart, and all cues and corrections will be given verbally. Trainers will be given personal disinfectant spray to wipe down each piece of equipment before and after use.
